Follow along with this example for making various measurements on a triangle:

First, open a new document. To do this press .

Use the navpad to select Add Graphs & Geometry from the menu to open a Graphs & Geometry Application.

Now press to change the view to Plane Geometry view.

Use the triangle tool and draw a big triangle on our screen.

Press to access the triangle tool.

Click once in three different places to define the 3 points of the triangle.

Press esc to exit the tool.

Measure the perimeter. Use the length tool.

Press to access it and click on any side of the triangle to measure perimeter. Click again to place the measurement in the work area. Place it in the upper left corner area.

Measure each side. To measure a specific side of a shape, move your cursor over the side and press tab. Now the side is highlighted.

Click to measure and click again to place the measurement.

Place the measurement next to the side.

Repeat for the other two sides. Press esc to exit the tool.

If you like, label the perimeter, so that you do not confuse it with other measurements as shown below.

Now, we will measure the area.

Press to access the area tool.

Click a side of the triangle to measure the area and click again to place the measurement. Place the measurement in the middle of the triangle if you have room. Otherwise, place it by the perimeter measurement and label it.

We can even measure the angles of the triangle.

Press to access the angle tool.

To measure an angle you must select three points to define the angle.

Click to define each point and click again to place the measurement.

Place the measurements in their respective corners or just outside their respective corners if you don't have room.

Measurements are very useful.

Did you know that you can change some measurements it changes the appearance of your shape? (This does not work for all measurements)
