Drawing a circle

The following instructions enable you to construct a circle. While each tool is a little different depending upon the type of object created, the principles of using the tools to draw objects are very similar.

  1. Open Graphs & Geometry on a page. Press . Move to the work area.

  2. Click on the screen to define the center point of the circle.

Move the cursor away from this point. A circle with a dotted circumference line emerges as you move the cursor.

  3. When the circle has the radius you desire, click again.

The dotted circumference changes to a solid circumference in the work area.

Note: If you hold down the key when creating the circle, the radius is limited in length to integers.

Shapes Menu Tools

Tool name Tool function Press:
1: Circle Constructs a circle. The center point is defined by the first click on the page and the radius is determined by the second click.
2: Triangle Constructs a triangle, defined by three points (vertices).
3: Rectangle Constructs a rectangle. Click once to define one corner. Move then click to define one side. Move perpendicularly to draw the rectangle. Click to complete it.
4: Polygon Constructs an n-sided polygon. Each click defines a vertex. The polygon is completed by clicking the initial vertex, or by pressing .
5: Regular Polygon Constructs an n-sided regular polygon. Click to define the center and click again to define the radius. Move clockwise (convex) or counter-clockwise (star) to set the value of n.

Follow along with this example to draw a 9-sided figure and then to draw a circle that is inside of the 9-sided figure:

The first step is to open up the plane geometry view in a Graphs & Geometry Application.

Open a new document. To do this, press . Use the navpad to select Add Graphs & Geometry from the menu to open a Graphs & Geometry Application.

Now press to change the view to Plane Geometry view.

We will need to use the Polygon tool. Press to access it.

To use this tool, simply click to place points/vertices and use the navpad to move your cursor.

In order to make a 9-sided figure, you will need to place 9 different points.

Once you have placed your last point simply click on the last point again to finish.

Here is an example of a 9-sided figure:

To use the circle, press .

To draw a circle, you must click once to place the center of the circle. Then you must click again to determine the size of the circle.

Once the tool is open, just use the navpad to accomplish this.

Just make sure that your circle is inside the 9-sided figure, and you are finished with the example.

Experiment with all the shapes and learn how to make them all.
